World music emerged in the 1980’s, with the growth of popular music releases in non-English languages. Led at first by music from Africa, today’s world music draws from all corners of the globe. Now a recognized genre, World Music combines folk and indigenous music creating an upbeat and authentic sound. Guest Artists Ocho Pies will have patrons dancing in the aisles with their blend of dance and folkloric music from Africa, South America, Ireland and Cuba.

Guest Artists: Ocho Pies

Ocho Pies is a quartet of multi-instrumental musicians who cross musical cultures. Since 1994 they have blended both the dance and folkloric music of the Caribbean, North and South America, Africa and even a wee bit of Ireland along with their own compositions.

Spotlight On: South Puget Sound Habitat For Humanity

South Puget Sound Habitat For Humanity is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, faith-based housing organization.  HFH partners with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. Houses are sold to qualified families for no profit and without interest fees.  Families make a down payment and a monthly mortgage payment, and provide sweat equity.  Working with donors, volunteers and partner families, South Puget Sound HFH has, over the past 21 years, helped more than 40 families realize the dream of home ownership.
