Something exciting is happening at Masterworks Choral Ensemble in Olympia: 28 new singers have joined the ensemble for our 44th season.
Every choir is built one voice at a time. Each singer brings a unique musical background, perspective and reason for singing. When those individual voices come together, something entirely new emerges.
For some of our new members, joining began with taking a courageous first step. When ask what inspired them to join Masterworks this season, one member said, “I finally got brave enough to audition!”
That leap has opened the door to an experience that is both musically challenging and personally rewarding.

Discovering the Joy of Singing Together
One of the most powerful parts of choral music is hearing individual voices become something greater together. Our new singers are already experiencing the connection, energy and shared purpose that develop when an ensemble works toward a common musical goal.

That spirit can be felt throughout the rehearsal room. New members described rehearsals as lighthearted and enjoyable, with smiling faces and welcoming singers helping them settle into the ensemble. One singer specifically credited their choir buddy with helping them ease into the group.
Becoming Part of the Masterworks Community
Our newest singers join a Masterworks tradition focused not only on performance, but also on community service, music education and leadership in the arts.
Some bring years of experience singing with other ensembles. Others are broadening their musical experience or are relatively new to music and choral singing. What unites them is the desire to learn, make meaningful music and contribute to the sound of the ensemble.
For our returning members, welcoming so many new singers is also an opportunity to share the traditions, camaraderie and commitment to musical excellence that make Masterworks special.
Looking Forward to the First Performance
There is already a growing sense of anticipation about the season ahead.
Our new singers are looking forward to performing at the Washington Center, sharing the music with friends and family, and experiencing the connection between performers and audiences. One singer summed up that excitement simply: they can’t wait for the first concert and for their friends and family to hear the music.
